CORNELIUS U. GIESBRECHT

Cornelius U. Giesbrecht was born October 21, 1910 at Neuhoffnung, Manitoba to Henry and Elizabeth Giestbrecht. His mother predeceased him when he was almost three years old. He grew up with four brothers, two sisters, four half-bro~hers and five half-sisters, of which four - three brothers and a sister have predeceased him .

He decided to follow Jesus when he was 27 years old and upon the confession of his faith was baptized in 1949 and joined the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church. Maria Enns became his beloved wife on October 24, 1937. Their marriage was blessed with three sons and two daughters. They made their home in Meath, S.tO.,liv:ing there from 1937 to 1965 when they moved ont'Oa farm ne'ar Elm Creek. Here t'hey joined the fell'lowship o'f the Newton Mennon'irte Brethren Church .

He was hig-hly respecrted and deeply loved by his chi'ldren. With his p'assing, a part of rthem has aliso p'a,ssed away. Mthough his 'life,espeoiaHy during the lat'ter years, wa's d'itticult beoause of illness and farming difficulties, he never ceased to s'ing 'Or to pl'ay his harp. As a child of the Lord's, he sought ,to be a friend t'O a'II.

He passe'd away suddenly on N'ovember 3, 1971, -leaving to mourn hilS pass:ing, his wife, Ma-ria; Ithree so-ns, Bill and his wi,fe L'iz, Wa'I'ter and his wife Mary, Corny and his wife Elvera; two daughters, Martha and her husband Sydney, Mary and her hushand Abe; 13 grandch'ildren; a brot:her and a sislter and many re,l-a't'ives and friends.

The funeral was oonducted from >the Newton MBChur'ch with Rev. J.J. Nikkel and Rev. D.A. Dyck ministering .
