HENRY JOHN LOEWEN

Mr. Henry John Loewen was born on December 16, 1887 in Michealsheim, Russia to John and Katarina Loewen. He was saved, baptized and accepted into the MB Church at Lugovsky in 1905. In 1913 he married Helena Klassen. They lived in Komentz and Bogomorrow for a year before he left to serve in the Medical Corps for three years. During the difficult post-war years they lived in Amensky.

They immigrated to Canada in 1924, and farmed at Colonsay, Sask. until 1945, and at Watrous for three more years before retiring in Saskatoon. In 1966 they moved to Clearbrook, B.C. Three years later Mr. Loewen entered the Menno Home where he resided until the Lord called him home on August 3. He leaves to mourn his wife Helena; six sons: Henry of Saskatoon, John, Ron and Peter of Abbotsford, B.C., Dave of Calgary and Ed of Linden, Alta.; six daughters: Mrs. H.(Katie) Balzer of Saskatoon, Mrs. R. (Frieda) Willems of Dalmeny, Sask., Mrs. P.(Anne) Regier of lise Des Chenes, Man., Mrs. E. (Louise) Kowalenko of Calgary, Mrs. A. (Helen) Koehn of Lytton, B.C. and Mrs. V. (Elsie) Betsch of Bandung, Indonesia; 46 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
