KATIE REDEKOP

Mrs. Katie (Hiebert) Redekop was born in Rueckenau, Russia on December 11, 1917. She came to Canada with her parents in 1924 settling in the Port Rowan, Ontario area where she grew up and received her schooling. She also attended the Winkler Bible School for some years.

In 1942 she was married to David E. Redekop. In her full and busy life, she found time to serve on the auxiliary of the Gideon's International and was a faithful supporter of her husband's work in Christian Business Men's Committee. She was very active in a number of organizations within the Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church.

On a trip to the east she was killed instantly in an accident that took place near Renfrew, Ont., on July 23, 1971,

Surviving her in her early death are her beloved husband, David; three daughters, Miss Catherine Redekop, Mrs. Jim (Charlotte) Holland, both of Winnipeg, and Miss Marlene Redekop of London, Ont.; two sons, David of Winnipeg and Edward at home; one grandson; one brother; and four sisters.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 28 from the Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, Rev. H. H. Voth and Rev. J. P. Neufeld officiating.
