— Funeral services for Mrs. P. J. Flaming, 74, lifelong resident of the Goessel community, were held Friday afternoon, July 15, at the Alexanderwohl church. Rev. P. A. Wedel was in charge of the service. Mrs. Flaming died July 12 following a heart attack. She is survived her husband, three sons and two daughters.

MRS. JUSTINA FLAMING

Mrs. Justina Goossen Flaming, daughter of Frank and Marie Unruh Goossen, was pborn Feb. 16, 1881, in Marin county, Kans., and passe to her eternal Home early in the morning on July 12, 1955, reaching the age of 74 years, four months and 25 days.

She received her elementary education in the Antioch Rural school near Hillsboro, Kans.

From childhood she always attended the services o her church and Sunday school with her parents. After having taken catechetical instruction she was baptized upon confession of faith in her Redeemer on June 3, 1900, by Rev. Balzer and was received into the Alexanderwohl church where she remained a faithful member until her death.

On April 6, 1902, she was united in marriage to Peter J. Flaming by Rev. C. C. Wedel. To this union were bon six children, three sons and three daughters. One daughter, Martha, met accidental death at the age of one year and nine months. This was a very grievous and painful loss to the parents. Not only sorrows but also many joys were experienced by the parents in their married life. In Christian faith and love, many obstacles were faced and the many mercies of God enjoyed.

On April 6, 1927, the parents had the joy of celebrating their silver wedding anniversary, and on April 6, 1952, they had the rare privilege of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary.

The later years of her life were brightened for her by the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved to visit the home of their grandparents.

The departed mother was a very faithful church attendant, seldom missing a service. She often accompanied her husband in their visitations and was a faithful life companion. She was always occupied in the busy activities of the home, her community and her church. She was very fond of flowers and always kept a flower garden for her enjoyment and for her friends.

She leaves to mourn her sudden departure her husband, Peter J. Flaming of Hillsboro, and the following children: Mr. and Mrs. John G. Flaming of rural Newton, Maria, Mrs. Arnold T. Schmidt and husband, rural Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. T. Flaming, rural Hillsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob G. Flaming, rural Hillsboro, and Sarah, Mrs. Otto Quiring and husband, rural Newton. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Andrew Buller, Mrs. Eva Flaming, and Mrs. David C. Koehn; and many relatives and friends.

One daughter, one grandchild, five sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

We treasure the memory of her many loving deeds and her faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour. “Eye hat not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” I Cor. 2:9. \ Funeral services were held in the Bergen Funeral Home and in the Alexanderwohl church on July 15, 1955, in charge of her pastor, Rev. P. A. Wedel, assisted by Rev. Paul Barkman and Rev. Gerhard Peters.
