ABRAM A. DYCK

Abram A. Dyck of Vineland, Ont., went to be with the Lord on October 25. He had reached the age of 73. Mr. Dyck was born on February 10, 1897, in Blumengart, Russia, to Abram and Maria Dyck. On August 29, 1921 he was married to his wife Aganetha, and in the same year he and his wife received Christ as their Saviour and were baptized and received into the membership of the Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1924 the Dycks came to Canada, settling first in Winkler, Manitoba, and then relocating to northern Saskatchewan where they purchased land, built a home, and cleared and tilled the virgin soil. After 10 years of toil and blessings they moved to Ontario. In 1937 they settled on a farm near Campden and in 1956, due to Mr. Dyck's failing health, they retired to Vineland.

Mr. and Mrs. Dyck were ordained to the diaconal ministry in 1950 and through their ministry became a blessing to many. Their home was always open; their hospitality was well-known. Earlier in life, for many years, Mr. Dyck served as Sunday school superintendent and in other areas of church work as well. The funeral drew large attendance.

Mr. Dyck is survived by his wife, Agnetha, of Vineland; two sons, Abe, of Campden, and Henry, of Smithville, Ont.; six daughters, Mrs. Abram (Hertha) Froese, Mrs. Werner (Katherine) Koop, Mrs. Gerhard (Martha) Wall, all of St. Catharines, Mrs. Ernest (Mary) Reimer, Beamsville, Ont., Mrs. George (Nettie) Friesen, Norwich, Ont., and Mrs. Daniel (Elsie) Klassen, Tilsonburg, Ont.; two daughters-in-law and six sons-in-law; as well as four brothers and 37 grandchildren.
