— Ben E. Becker, 63, whose home was at Meno, Okla., died July 31 at the Bethel Deaconess hospital where he had been a patient since May 4. Brief services were conducted at the Moody's funeral chapel here Thursday morning, Rev. D. J. Unruh officiating, after which the body was sent to Meno for final services on Friday afternoon at the New Hopedale church, of which he was a member. Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Eva Becker and Sister Mary Elizabeth Becker, C. A. and Bernard Becker of Newton, Mrs. Susie Johnson of Dallas, Ore., Mrs. Anna Mueller Ratzlaff of Van Nuys, Calif., and David Becker of Meno.

BENNIE E. BECKER

Bennie E. Becker, son of Adam and Elizabeth (Unruh) Becker, was born at Moundridge, Kansas on August 19, 1887, and died Bethel Deaconess hospital, Newton, Kansas, on July 31, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 12 days.

In 1893, when he was about six-years old, he came with his parents to the newly opened settlement in the Cherokee Strip (Indian Territory) Oklahoma. Here he grew up in the pioneer home of his parents near Meno, Oklahoma.

On Pentecost Day 1905 he was baptized upon his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour from sin, and received into the membership of the New Hopedale Mennonite church, Meno, Okla. He kept faith and remained an active member of the church until the time of his illness and death. When a lingering illness made it necessary for him to be hospitalized he came to the Bethel Deaconess hospital, Newton, Kansas, where he received loving care until he peacefully fell asleep in Jesus on Tuesday, July 31, 1951.

His father and mother, four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He was, by nature, very quiet especially after his service in the medical corps in this country and abroad for more than a year during World War I. He loved beautiful things, among them flowers and good music. For 23 years he was an active member of the male chorus of the New Hopedale Mennonite church until his illness made it necessary for him to discontinue this activity.

He leaves to mourn his departure, three brothers and four sisters, C. A. Becker, Newton, Kans., Mrs. Susie Johnson, Dallas, Oregon, Mrs. Anna Mueller Ratzlaff, Van Nuys, Calif., Bernard Becker, Newton, Kans., Sister Eva Becker, (patient at Bethel Deaconess hospital) Newton, Kans., David Becker, Meno, Okla., Sister Mary Elizabeth Becker, Bethel Deaconess hospital, Newton, Kans., and also a large number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the Moody Funeral Home in Newton, Kans. with Rev. D. J. Unruh officiating, assisted by Rev. J. E. Entz.

Funeral services were also conducted in the New Hopedale Mennonite church of Meno, Okla. with Rev. Arnold Epp officiating. Interment was in the New Hopedale cemetery.
