JOEL S. WEAVER

Joel S., son of John B. and Lydia S. (Blosser) Weaver, and grandson of Pre. John Weaver, was born Jan. 15, 1889, near Foraker, Elkhart county, Indiana and peacefully fell asleep Nov. 24, 1949, aged 60 years, 10 months and nine days.

He was united in marriage Dec. 23, 1912, to Emma Lehman, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Evangeline, Mrs. Charles Stouder, and Verna, Mrs. Ray Hartman; three sisters, Miss Cora Weaver, Mary, Mrs. William Ramer, and Effie, Mrs. Wm. Henry Bechtel; two granddaughters and two grandsons, and many other relatives and friends. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death in early childhood. His mother passed away Feb. 3, 1921, and his father May 5, 1938.

On Nov. 8, 1919, he with his wife united with the Salem Mennonite church and gave many years of faithful service.

On April 22, 1949, his only son, Joel Jr. was instantly killed in a car-truck accident, leaving a wife and son, 18 months old.

He suffered much all summer from a rare bone disease, multiple mycloma [sic myeloma], for which there is no known cure.

Funeral services were conducted by F. E. Freed and R. F. Yoder at the Yellow Creek Brick Mennonite church on Nov. 27. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
