Well Known Former Teacher in Russia Called Away In Death at Rabbit Lake, Sask.

ABRAM A FRIESEN WAS INSTRUCTOR IN COMMERCE SCHOOL AT HALFSTADT [sic HALBSTADT]

Rabbit Lake, Sask. — Abram A. Friesen, a former teacher in the school of commerce at Halfstadt [sic HALBSTADT] , South Russia, died here suddenly on Monday, Sept. 20.

Mr. Friesen was widely known among the Mennonites of Canada and Russia not only as a teacher but also as a member of the immigration commission which arranged for the settlement of many thousands of Mennonites in this country after the close of World War I. From 1922 to 1926 he served as member of the Canadian Colonization Board of Rosthern.

His wife and their three daughters survive. Mr. Friesen reached the age of 63 years.
