MRS. DAVID H. THIESEN

Mrs. David H. Thiesen, nee Sarah Goertzen, daughter of Henry and Anna Schmidt Goertzen, was born May 3, 1893, in Marion County, Kansas. She departed this life on Sept. 12, 1963, having reached the age of 70 years, four months and nine days.

She attended elementary school in the Heimbaugh District, Marion County, and the Preparatory School in Goessel.

On May 26, 1913, she was baptized upon confession of her faith in Jesus Christ by Rev. Henry Banman and became a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel. On Nov. 21, 1913, she transferred her membership to the Tabor Mennonite Church where she remained a faithful member until her death.

On Dec. 2, 1913, she was united in marriage with David H. Thiesen. This union was blessed with three sons.

She was a member of the Tabor Sewing Society and even after her health prevented her from taking an active part, she continued to remain interested in the projects of the Society. She had been in failing health the last nine years of her life but she never complained of her handicaps.

On July 25 she suffered a stroke and was taken to Bethesda Hsopital, Goessel. Here she spent the remaining weeks of her earthly life, partially paralyzed, but able to enter into conversation. She often expressed her desire to enter her heavenly home.

She leaves to remember her life, her husband, David H. Thiesen; three sons, Adolf and family, rural Newton, Walter and family, Newton, Henry and family of Reedley, Calif.; nine grandchildren; four brothers, William, Dan, Cornelius, and Menno; one sister Marie, Mrs. Oswin Mouttet, and other relatives and friends.
