Wiebe, John B. (1873-1937)
Mennonite Weekly Review obituary: 1937 Apr 28 p. 6
Birth date: 1873 Jun 24
text of obituary:
John B. Wiebe, son of Jacob and Susana Wiebe, was born June 24, 1873, in South Russia and departed from this life on April 20, 1937, at the age 63 years 9 months and 26 days.
In 1877, when he was 4 years old, he emigrated to America with his parents. Here they settled near Inman, Kansas, where he grew to manhood and tasted many of the hardships of early pioneer life. Realizing his need of a Savior, he sought salvation and on his confession of faith in Christ's atonement he was baptized near Abilene, Texas, and received as member of the E. M. B. church.
In 1903 he was united in holy matrimony to Ida Peters near Moundridge, Kansas.
This union was blessed with 8 children, 3 sons and 5 daughters. They moved from one place to another because of ill health and hardship, from Oklahoma to S. Dakota and Canada, and then back to Kansas.
Four years ago they came to Elbing, Kans. In the revival meeting two years ago he renewed his vow with the Savior and promised to obey and follow him. About three years ago he began complaining of heart failure and mentioned to his family that he better be prepared and ready to depart.
