• Funeral services for Herman F. Suderman, 94, a pioneer banker here, were conducted Tuesday forenoon at the Bethel College Church by Rev. Russell L. Mast. Mr. Suderman died Saturday at Bethel Deaconess Hospital where he had been admitted several weeks ago after suffering a fractured hip. He had resided at the Bethel Home for Aged since 1961. A native of Berdjansk, South Russia, he came to this area in 1885. The following year he began working as a messenger boy for the German National Bank, and later was employed in banks in Kansas City, Mo. He became vice-president of Midland National Bank here in 1902, was president from 1921 to 1954, and chairman of the board until his death. He was active in professional and civic organizations, and served on the boards of both Bethel College and Bethel Hospital. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Albert Buck of New Haven, Conn. two sons, Carl K. and John C., the latter succeeding him as bank president; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
