Crossing Crash Fatal to Washington Farmer

Ritzville, Wash. — Funeral services for Philip G. Schrag, 45-year-old farmer of this community who was instantly killed in a railway crossing accident in Odessa, Wash., were held Oct. 21 at the Menno Mennonite Church near here. Rev. Harris Waltner, the pastor, officiated.

Mr. Schrag was alone in his station wagon when he apparently failed to see an approaching Great Northern train at a street crossing. The vehicle was carried about three-fourths of a mile before the train could be halted.

Formerly of Monroe, Wash., Mr. Schrag had farmed here since 1948. His marriage to Jeanne Vangrootel, a native of Belgium, took place in 1947.
