• C. B. Thierstein, 66, well-known farmer of the Whitewater community, died of an apparent heart attack Monday evening, Aug. 25, while working in a field near his home. He was a member of the Emmaus Mennonite Church, and the funeral was conducted there on Thursday afternoon, with Rev. L. R. Amstutz and Rev. Ted Roth officiating. Mr. Thierstein had recently completed 21 years as a member of the Bethel Deaconess Hospital board. He leaves his widow, the former Ella Regier; one daughter, Mrs. Novalis Toews of rural Whitewater; two sons, Gerald of Quebec, Canada and Eldred of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Samuel T. of Lincoln, Neb.; and a foster sister, Mrs. Herbert Thiessen of rural Whitewater.
