Aged California Minister Died

REV. J. J. VOTH, 93, WAS PIONEER MENNONITE PASTOR AT UPLAND

Upland, Calif. — Funeral services were conducted at the First Mennonite Church here for Rev. J. J. Voth, 93, pioneer Mennonite minister of the Upland community. Rev. Paul Goering, his pastor, officiated.

Rev. Voth died at a St. Gabriels hospital on April 16 after being a patient there for three weeks. He was the oldest member of the Upland congregation and was the first Mennonite minister to preach in Upland. He conducted services in homes before a church was built.

Interment was made in the Belleview cemetery at the side of his wife who died in 1917. He is survived by six children, all of whom attended the funeral. They are Mrs. Bertha Sommerfeld, Mrs. Clara isaacs, Mrs. Ruth Bennet, Anna Voth, Waldo and Jake Voth, all of California.
