SIMON C. KOEHN

Simon C. Koehn, son of Cornelius and Lena (Unruh) Koehn, was born Jan. 2, 1888 in Marion County, Kan. and passed away very suddenly at his home near Wauseon, Ohio, on March 13, 1961. He reached the age of 73 years, two months and 11 days. Death was caused by a heart attack.

In 1910 he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and upon confession of faith was baptized and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on June 15, 1910, remaining faithful to the end.

On Jan. 22, 1911 he was united in marriage to Eva Unruh with whom he shared joys and sorrows of life over 39 years. This union was blessed with eight sons and eight daughters.

Father's spiritual concern for the welfare of his family was keenly felt by his many admonitions and daily prayers. As a farmer near Galva, Kan. he was industrious and loved to provide for his family's needs.

On March 26, 1950 his companion passed away, leaving him very lonely.

On May 10, 1953 he was married to Nettie (Unruh) Koehn of Halstead, Kan. They lived in Moundridge and in Halstead when death broke this union on Nov. 27, 1957. On Jan 4, 1959 he was married to Vesta (Gearig) Wenger of Wauseon, Ohio.

He is survived by his beloved sorrowing companion; seven sons, Arthur of Fairview, Okla.; Levi of Barron, Wis., Ivan of Mission, Texas, Alfred of Almena, Wis., Ervy of Rice Lake, Wis., Vernon of Butler, Mo., and Lincoln of Moundridge, Kan.; seven daughters, Lorena (Mrs. Oliver Holdeman) of Stapleton, Ga., Erma (Mrs. Jake Schellenberg) and Inez (Mrs. Menno Nickel), both of Moundridge,Kan., Velma (Mrs. Archie Holdeman) of Hesston, Kan., Edna (Mrs. Pete Loewen) of Davisboro, Ga., Rosella (Mrs. Ura Yoder) of Millersburg, Ohio, Marcella (Mrs. John Unruh) of Verden, Okla.; two brothers, David and Ben, both of Galva; one sister, Ida (Mrs. Fred Redger) of Durham, Kan.; 64 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by eight sisters, two brothers, one son, one daughter and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Lone Tree Church, Galva, on March 17, 1961 with Min. Carl Dirks of Halstead, Kan., officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.
