Indiana Man Killed, Two Passengers Hurt When Car Hits Tree
Goshen, Ind. — A one-car accident on the old Middlebury-Goshen road Oct. 5 claimed the life of Levi E. Miller, 64, the driver, and seriously injured his two passengers.
It was reported that Mr. Miller had crossed over the center line momentarily and then swerved to miss an oncoming car at the crest of a hill. His car sideswiped one tree and then crashed into another tree along the roadside. He died instantly.
His passengers, Mrs. Bonnie Jean Stutzman, 28, and her six-year-old daughter, Ruth Ann, of rural Shipshewana were brought to the Goshen Hospital by ambulance.
Funeral services for Mr. Miller were held Oct. 8 at the Woodlawn Conservative Church. He was a lifelong resident of the Shipshewana-Middlebury community, and since last year had been providing a taxi service for the Amish. He leaves his widow, the former Ida Gingerich, five sons, one daughter, seven grandchildren, five sisters and one brother.
