SARAH THIESZEN PETERS

Sarah Thieszen Peters, daughter of Abraham and Maria Siebert Thieszen, was born on July 5, 1888 at Henderson, Neb., and passed away on June 29, 1973, six days before her 85th birthday.

She was baptized on June 4, 1906 by Peter J. Friesen and received into the Bethesda Mennonite Church where she remained a member until her death.

On Aug. 6, 1908, she was married to Cornelius C. Peters, being permitted to share life’s joys and sorrows with him for nearly 50 years. To this union were born five children.

Mother spent her entire life in the Henderson community. Her meager education was acquired in District 37 in York County. She and father lived on a farm until November 1943 when they moved to their home in Henderson. After father passed away in 1958, mother remained in her home until December of 1967 when she moved to the Henderson Nursing Home.

Mother enjoyed working with others and took an active part in Mission Circle I and the Hospital Auxiliary as long as her health permitted.

In her latter years her health failed due to emphysema. On May 21 she was hospitalized at the Henderson Community Hospital where she passed away. Through all her illness she maintained a steadfast faith in God.

At her departure she leaves three sons, Abraham and wife Ada and Jacob and wife Erna, all of Henderson, and Gustav and wife Hilda of Lincoln; one daughter Marie, and husband Maurice Janzen of Henderson; one daughter-in-law, Louise, Mrs. C. A. Peters of Henderson; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Abraham A. Thieszen, and one sister, Mrs. Frank K. Friesen, both of Henderson. She was precede in death by her husband, one son, Cornelius, four brothers and three sisters. — The Family.
