YOUNG AMISH FATHER OF FOUR DROWNS IN OHIO FARM POND

Sugarcreek, Ohio. — A swimming excursion on the Peter D. Yoder farm southwest of Mt. Eaton claimed the life of Peter Swartzendruber, 24, son-in-law of the Yoders and a resident of the farm.

On Saturday afternoon, Aug. 11, twelve men went for a cooling dip in the farm pond after finishing the threshing at the Yoder farm. Swartzendruber foundered in deep water and the others were unable to help him. The body was recovered a short time later by Beach City firemen.

Funeral services were conducted by Bishop Andrew Schrock of the Amish church. The young father leaves his wife, four small children, and the parents, Abe P. Swartzendrubers.
