NEWTON & VICINITY

● Funeral services for William S. Goertzen, 95, of Bethesda Home, Goessel, and formerly of North Newton and Goessel, were held July 8 at Trinity Mennonite Church, Hillsboro. Harold Burkholder and Heinz Janzen officiated. Burial was in Johannestal Cemetery, rural Hillsboro. He died July 4 at Bethesda Mennonite Home, Goessel, where he had lived since January 1986. A member of the Burns Mennonite Church and a native of rural Hillsboro, he was a chiropractor and naturopath. Survivors include his wife, the former Anna Unruh, of North Newton; one daughter, Dorothy Stewart, Wichita; one foster daughter, Maxine Wells, Enterprise; one brother, Menno, Newton; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
