Gladys Ruth Siebert was born Aug. 14, 1936, to Cornelius and Emma (Epp) Siebert on a farm near Henderson, Neb. She died Nov. 6, 1989, at Henderson Community Hospital at age 53.
She graduated from Henderson High School and Bethel Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, Newton, Kan. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Bethel College, North Newton, Kan., and a master’s degree in religious education from Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart, Ind. She completed a course in anesthesiology at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Mo., and a course in Clinical Pastoral Education at Prairie View mental Health Center, Newton, Kan.
She was baptized by Arnold Nickel on June 1, 1952, and became a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church, Henderson, where she remained a member until her death.
She was ordained as a missionary on Feb. 16, 1964, and worked under the Commission on Overseas mission (GC) at Mennonite Christian Hospital in Hwalien, Taiwan, until June 1989.
She was a loving, caring person, putting God and others first in her life.
Survivors include one brother, Raymond and wife Mabel Siebert; one sister, Elva and husband Walter Janzen; five nephews and five nieces and their families; and a stepmother, Marie Epp Siebert.
Funeral services were held at Bethesda Mennonite Church. Burial was in the Mennonite Cemetery, Henderson.
