LEVI J. SHENK

Levi J. Shenk, son of Bishop John M. and Fannie Good Shenk, died Feb. 23, 1974 at the home of his daughter, Mary Florence Shenk, Harrisonburg, Va. He had not been well for several years and was seriously ill for the last month. He celebrated his 90th birthday July 18, 1973 and he and his wife, Amanda Yoder Shenk, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last November.

An Elida, Ohio native, he had lived most of his life in the Denbigh community, moving to Harrisonburg in October, 1970.

His children are Lester J. Shenk, Sarasota, Fla., Mary Florence Shenk and Margaret Shenk of Harrisonburg, Va., Miriam (Mrs. Daniel F.) Baer and Martha (Mrs. Ernest M.) Godshall, both of Newport News. Three children preceded him in death. He had 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and one sister, Rebecca (Mrs. Royal) Buskirk of Newport News, Va.

The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 pm. Monday, Feb. 25 at the Warwick River Mennonite Church, Newport News, Va., with Truman H. Brunk, Kenneth G. Good and Lewis J. Kraus participating.
