Lowell A. Wolfer, 68, died Oct. 7, 1994, at his home in Hutchinson, Kan. He was born June 30, 1926, at Sheridan, Ore., the son of G.D. "Dewey" and Florence Mishler Wolfer.
He was a graduate of Hesston College, Bethel College and Emporia State Teachers College. A Hutchinson resident since 1964, moving from Buhler, he was a retired teacher and school psychologist for Hutchinson-area and Reno County schools. He was also a brick and stonemason.
He was a member of South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, the Kansas Association of School Psychologists, the National Association of School Psychologists, the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus. He was past president of the Hesston College Alumni Association and had received the Kansas State Psychologist of the Year Award.
On Feb. 8, 1948, he married LaVerne Hartzler at Wellman, Iowa. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Gary L. of Buhler; two daughters, Bonita Ballard of Hutchinson and Cheryl J. Wolfer of Montesano, Wash.; four brothers, Bob and Gilbert, both of Vancouver, Wash., Donald of Battleground, Wash., and Kenneth of Sutherlin, Ore.; two sisters, Iris Yoder of McMinnville, Ore., and Margery Pelfrey of Sheridan, Ore; and five grandchildren.
