HENRY A. ESAU

Henry A. Eaau [sic Esau] was born on March 19, 1896, at Inman, Kan., the son of Jacob and Marie Nickel Esau. He went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 18, after a lingering heart ailment for the past year.

He was married to Susie Koop on Sept. 15, 1922, in McPherson, Kan. To this union were born two daughters, Darlene and Betty.

Hank, as he was known, moved to Hillsboro in 1919 with his parents. He waent [sic] into the tire and vulcanizing business, but in later years was a painter and decorator.

He experienced the power of salvation and surrender, at the time of his daughter Berry's call to full time service in overseas mission work. In giving her “to the Lord” five years ago he met Christ face to face and became reconciled in his surrender to Him. Hank had many trials and great struggles in his life but the last four years were those of victorious living in hope and utmost faith in God.

In Sept, 1956, he was baptized and became a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church, of which he remained a faithful member.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.

He leaves his wife, Susie, two daughters, Darlene Funk of Wichita, Kan., and Betty Esau of Sierra Leone, West Africa; one son-in-law, Lloyd F. Funk, and one granddaughter, Nancy Funk, Wichita; two sisters, Mrs. Anna E. Regehr of Rocky Ford, Colo. and Mrs. Helene E. Unruh, of Mahomet, Ill., and a host of relatives and friends.
