Pioneer Missionary to Indians Dies

Whitewater, Kan. — Relatives here received word on Tuesday of the death at Reedley, Calif. of Rev. Alfred Wiebe, 85, a pioneer missionary to the Indians under the General Conference Mennonite Church.

Rev. Wiebe was born at Marienberg, Germany and came to Kansas as a young boy. He grew up in the Whitewater community and attended the Emmaus Church. He was a missionary to the Indians at Canton and Seiling, Okla. and also served in Montana before his retirement.

Rev. Wiebe and his wife had been living in the Sierra View Homes at Reedley. Funeral services will be held at the grace Mennonite Church there on May 10.
