Pastor's death leads to online prayers, grieving

By Mennonite Weekly Review staff

ALDERGROVE, B.C. — The death of a young pastor in July generated a wave of online prayers and support for his family, according to the September issue of the Mennonite Brethren Herald.

Nathan Toews, 24 died July 20 when a semi trailer overturned and struck his vehicle near Edgewater. In the same vehicle were Toews' wife, Rosanna, his brother, Doug and Doug's wife, Elissa, who was 34 weeks pregnant and seriously injured. Her son was delivered safely by caesarean section after the accident.

Toews was worship pastor at Ross Rood MB Church in Aldergrove. An online group on the Facebook Web site drew nearly 500 participants into a "shared grieving community," according to MB Herald.

"Postings on the group's wall gave abundant testimony to Nathan's influence," according to the article. "Contributors repeatedly mentioned his passion for Jesus, gifts in leading worship, love for people and an even greater love for his Lord."
