JOHN W. MARTENS

John Martens died Feb. 21 in his sleep. He was born July 9, 1918 in Warman, Sask. He moved to Manitoba as a teenager to find employment. For the majority of his working years, he farmed near Kleefeld. He also worked at Pioneer Electric in Winnipeg and Keystone Hatchery in Niverville. John had a strong work ethic. He enjoyed good health most of his life, but suffered several strokes in later years and had to move to a nursing home. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up, watching WWF wrestling, and playing guitar. John was a quiet, private man, and liked to be punctual. Predeceased by 2 sisters; 4 brothers; 2 grandchildren; he is mourned by Katherine, his wife of 61 years; children Ed (Tina), Irene (Dan) Pauls, Walter (Sandra), Harold (Kathy), Art (Carol), and Val; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
