PETER JAMES PETERS

Peter James Peters died peacefully Aug. 10. He was born Apr. 30, 1921 in Plum Coulee, Man. to James and Agnes Peters. At 14, he left home to work as a farmhand. When he was 20, he met Kay Penner, who was only 14. Peter attended Kay's baptism, which made a significant impact on him. One Sunday morning at age 25, Peter's car wouldn't start so he walked to a church several miles away. At this church, he was convicted to become a Christian. Shortly afterwards, Peter and Kay were married. Peter worked at various vocations, including trucking and concrete finishing, and took pride in his workmanship. Peter and Kay attended Elmwood MB Church, Winnipeg, where Peter served as an usher. He believed in regular church involvement and respect for church leadership. In 1967, they moved to Abbotsford, B.C. and became members of Bakerview MB Church, where they served on the food committee. Peter enjoyed retirement and spending time with his family. Predeceased by 2 brothers, he is mourned by Kay; 4 children and their spouses; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters. The memorial service was Aug. 17 at Bakerview MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C.
