MRS. SUSIE RUTH

Mrs. Susie Ruth was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bernhard Warkentin in Kirk, Colo. on April 1, 1898. She later moved with her parents to Hillsboro, Kan. where she entered nurses training in the Salem Hospital. On completion of her training, Susie spent time in missionary nursing in Kentucky, and also served for a number of years as an office nurse in Hillsboro. Moving to California in 1940, she worked on the nursing staff at Reedley Hospital.

On April 6, 1945 Susie was married to Paul E. Ruth to whose children she was a loving mother and grandmother. After 17 years of happy companionship her husband passed away on Oct. 2, 1962. Susie’s sensitive and tender spirit was a blessing not only to those she served in her profession, but also to the children, grandchildren, and other members of the family.

Susie had a deep and sincere faith in Christ and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church in 1913. During the time of their marriage Paul and Susie were members of the Colony Covenant Church near Kingsburg, Calif. However, in recent years Susie had become a member of the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church. We of the family have been blessed and encouraged by her love and faithful prayers for our welfare.

She leaves to cherish her memory the children, Earl Ruth of Parlier, Calif., Jessie Cooprider of Norwalk, Calif., Irma Somerton of Lafayette, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Abe Warkentin of Enid, Okla., George S. Warkentin of Hillsboro, Erich Warkentin of Pleasant View Manor Reedley, Calif., Mary Heinrichs of Reedley, Ann Warkentin of Kansas City, Mo., and Lydia Braun, Reedley.
