JOHN WIENS

John Wiens of Langley, B.C. died May 3. He was born to Jacob and Katherina Wiens Sept. 7, 1933 in Fabikerwiese, South Russia. He lost his father to the Russian army when he was 4 and lost his mother when he was 8. Friends cared for him and his younger brother until 1943 when they fled to Poland. His maternal grandmother took them to Germany. After the war, his uncle Peter Wiens located them through the Red Cross and brought them to Canada. They became part of the family. He received Christ as a teen and was baptized, joining East Aldergrove (B.C.) MB Church. He married Helen Klassen Nov. 1, 1956. They moved in Langley, B.C. in the mid-1960s and became part of the Brookswood (now South Langley) MB Church plant. He was a caring, giving father, spending many hours studying God's Word and praying. He loved the church and was involved in various ministries. He is mourned by Helen; sons Gerald, Les and Rob; daughter Kathy Grainger; 12 grandchildren; 2 sisters; 2 brothers. The funeral was May 8 in South Langley MB Church with Wes Dahl and Lorraine Dick ministering.
