JOHN N. WIENS

John N. Wiens of St. Catharines, Ont. died of a heart attack on August 2. He was born January 18, 1902 to Nickolai and Marie (nee Janzen) Wiens at Lindenhof, Pologie region, in southern Russia. In 1912 the family moved to Kiptschak, Simferopel region. He married Katie Reimer of Wiesenfeld on October 25, 1925 in Tschongrau. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour in 1924, and after the couple's immigration to Canada in 1925, he joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. The first years in Canada were spent in several rural Manitoba communities. In 1935 the family moved to Winnipeg and joined the South End MB Church. The family moved to Leamington, Ont. in 1945 and in 1950 to St. Catharines. His wife passed away in November 1967. His children are thankful for the firm trust in Christ and high degree of integrity and faithfulness they saw in their father. He is survived by his children Kay, Helen, John, Esther and daughter-in-law Alice; by three grandchildren and two sisters. The funeral was held on August 7 in the Scott St. MB Church, St. Catharines, with Rev. Henry Penner officiating.
