Mennonite Brethren Herald obituary: 1977 Nov 11 p. 31
text of obituary:
MARTHA BAERG
After a courageous year-long struggle with cancer, Martha Baerg was admitted to her heavenly home on September 27. She was born on June 23, 1922 at Mennon, Saskatchewan to Jacob and Anna (nee Voth) Baerg. In 1941 she was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Christ and joined the Dalmeny (Sask.) Mennonite Brethren Church. She studied at Bethany Bible Institute and graduated from the Dalmeny Bible Institute. In earlier years she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. After her parents' passing, Martha and her sister Nettie spent nine precious years together.
In 1973 Martha began work in a Dalmeny store, which afforded her many opportunities to live the Christian testimony. The discovery of cancer in November, 1976 brought a long period of hospitalization and suffering, but those who visited her were always impressed by the radiance of her testimony and her constant cheerfulness.
Above all, Martha wanted to glorify God. She thus received the very serene peace of knowing that she was in his hands.
She is survived by five sisters, Annie (Mrs. John) Lepp, Tina (Mrs. Jacob) Lepp, Sara (Mrs. Henry) Wall, Elizabeth (Mrs. Albert) Loewen, and Nettie; two brothers, Jacob and Henry; two sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
