MRS. KATHIE KLASSEN

(Mrs.) Kathie Klassen was born on November 7, 1919 to Heinrich and Emily Adrian in Ebenfeld, Kherson, Russia and was called home to be with her Lord on June 24. She moved with her family to Gnadenthal, Manitoba in 1924. She accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age and was baptized at 18 years. When she was 20 years of age her mother passed away, and being the eldest of 10 children, she accepted a large part of the family responsibility. She was happy after four years to welcome into the family her step-mother, (Mrs.) Elizabeth Adrian.

On March 14, 1943 she married Cornelius Klassen, with whom she shared happy and difficult times for 34 years. They were entrusted with five children. She was industrious and resourceful with limited means. Her active involvement in Sunday school both in Wingham Mennonite and Elm Creek Mennonite Brethren Churches gave her and the children much joy. It was her deep concern to follow in Jesus' footsteps. A treasured Bible verse of hers was Philippians 1:21: "For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Funeral services were held on June 27 at the Elm Creek Church with Rev. J. W. Kroeker and Rev. Henry Janzen officiating.

She leaves to mourn her beloved husband Kornelius; her children, Kay (Mrs. Jake) Martens of Elm Creek, Betty (Mrs. John) Peters of Thompson, Man., Harry and Carole Klassen of Elm Creek, Emily of Winnipeg, and Lois (Mrs. Phil) Wiebe of Winnipeg; seven grandchildren; her grandmother and stepmother; six brothers and two sisters; and many other relatives and friends.
