MRS. CHRISTINE WIRSCHE

(Mrs.) Christine Wirsche of Swift Current, Sask., was born on October 1, 1896 in Kronental, south Russia to William and Katherine Arnold. After a lengthy illness she passed away peacefully on March 29. At the age of 11 years she accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour; she was baptized and received into the membership of the German Baptist Church in southern Russia. In 1911 she moved with her family to Canada, settling in Saskatchewan.

On January 17,1917 she married William Wirsche. Together they experienced numerous blessings and severe hardships. They were blessed with four daughters and two sons. The Wirsches first settled on a farm in the Flowing Well, Sask., area. In 1934 they moved to the Kelstern district, and retired in 1960 in Swift Current. Mrs. Wirsche was a faithful member of the Baptist Church, and of the Mennonite Brethren Church to which she transferred in 1926. Hospitality was a noble trait of her character; foreign missions and ladies' church activities stood at the top of her list of priorities.

A funeral service was held on April 1 in the Swift Current Bridgeway Community Mennonite Brethren Church. Rev. F. J. Peters and the pastor, Peter Nikkel, spoke words of comfort.

She leaves to mourn her beloved husband, William; four daughters, (Mrs.) Elsie Waldbauer, Irene (Mrs. Robert) Lautermilch, Laura (Mrs. Roy) Rud, and Arlone; one son, Arthur and his wife June; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jake, Adolf, Otto and William; and many other relatives and close friends.
