• Adolph H. Buhler, 80, died early Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Bethel Home for Aged where he had resided for the past two months. The body was returned to Deer Creek, Okla., his former home, and funeral services were held Monday forenoon at the Deer Creek Mennonite Church with Rev. Boyd Bonebrake in charge. Mr. Buhler was a retired farmer. He leaves his wife, the former Helen Quiring, three daughters and three sons.

ADOLPH H. BUHLER

Adolph H. Buhler was born Jan. 20, 1883 in Marion County, Kansas, and passed away at the Bethel Home for the Aged in Newton on Aug. 31, 1963 at the age of 80 years, seven months, and 10 days, after an extended illness.

Mr. Buhler was the oldest of a family of six children. At the age of 12 years his father passed away, and he, being the oldest member of this young family, accepted the responsibility of assisting with the support of the family by working for farmers in the area.

Being raised in a Christian home, he early became acquainted with his Lord and Master and developed a real and personal companionship with Him. Mr. Buhler was baptized May 22, 1904, and became a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel, Kan.

In 1906 he was united in marriage to Helen Buller. To this union were born two daughters, Stella and Anne. In 1910 his wife passed away, leaving him alone with the two children.

On June 13, 1912 he was united in marriage to Helen Quiring. To this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy. In 1918 Mr. Buhler moved his family to Grant County, Oklahoma on a farm between Deer Creek and Medford, where he resided until July 1960.

Mr. Buhler was a member of the Deer Creek Mennonite Church at the time of his death. He served as deacon of this church for 24 years, from 1921 to 1945. His God, his family and his church were his main concerns. It was a natural thing for him to witness for his God in this daily activities, both in times of stress in times of happiness. This, together with his leadership in family devotions, was a constant inspiration to his family, and provided for them the experiences that acquainted them with God in a personal way.

Mr. Buhler leaves to mourn his passing his wife Helen, who ministered to him and was at his side constantly in his last days here; six children, Mrs. Stella Van Meter of Greensburg, Kan.; Anne Buhler of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Sue McCarty of Turon, Kan., and Arnold Buhler of El Dorado, Kan.; three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Voth of Newton, Kan., Mrs. Mary Davis of Diamond, Mo., Mrs. Lena Robinson of Billings, Mont.; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and other relatives. His father, mother, and two brothers, Henry and Dave, preceded him in death.
