• Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Koerner Heights Gospel M. B. Church for Mrs. Mary Adrian, 76, who died suddenly Jan. 24 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Andrew Boese, at Burns. The services were in charge of Rev. Lynford Becker. Mrs. Adrian had lived in Newton since 1937, the family home being on North Main Street. Her husband, Henry Adrian, died in 1959. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Boese are another daughter, Mrs. Ike Martens of Burns; two sons, Edgar M. of Burns and Corney of Corn, Okla.; two brothers, 13 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

MARY MARGARET ADRIAN

Mary Margaret Adrian was born Sept. 7, 1886 near Lehigh, Kan. to Cornelius J. and Margaret Epp Janzen.

She was married to Henry F. Adrian on Oct. 24, 1907 and together they enjoyed the blessings of God. This union was made glad by the birth of three sons and two daughters. One son died in infancy. They shared life's blessings for nearly 52 years, until her husband preceded her in death in 1959.

Her spiritual life and love for Christ were shared with others. At an early age she became conscious of her spiritual needs. Upon her conversion and confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, she was baptized on Jan. 23, 1899 by Rev. Jacob B. Wiens and received into the membership of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Lehigh.

In 1907 she transferred her membership to the Buhler, Kan. Mennonite Brethren Church where she remained a member until September of 1958 at which time she was received into the fellowship of the Koerner Heights Gospel Mennonite Brethren Church of Newton, Kan. She remained a faithful member until her passing. She delighted in the Word of God and had a number of favorite passages. She possessed a radiant countenance, a genuine joy and a spiritual concern for her family. She found great strength and joy in prayer and fellowship with her Lord.

When it became apparent that her health was failing, she found renewed peace and joy in her God and often expressed her desire that she might be taken home to be with her Lord. On Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 1963, she was stricken with a heart attack and passed away at the age of 76 years, four months, and 17 days.

She leaves to mourn two sons, Edgar M. Adrian of Burns, Kan. and Corney J. Adrian of Cordell, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Boese and Mrs. Susie Martens of Burns; two brothers, Dr. C. C. Janzen of Milwaukee, Wis. and P. C. Janzen of Lehigh; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One granddaughter died in infancy.
