Mennonite Weekly Review 4-27-2000: Glenn Vernon Becker, 81, of Lawton, Okla., died recently. He was the son of Abraham J. and Magdalena Becker, pioneer Mennonite Brethren missionaries to the Comanche Indians at Post Oak , Mission near Indiahoma, Okla., and the grandson of Jacob P. Becker, a prominent founder of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Russia. Glenn's passing marks the end of an era since he was the last surviving member of the A.J. and Magdalena Becker family. Glenn was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Indiahoma. He received a B.A. degree in 1939 from Bethel College, North Newton, Kan. He taught school at Meno, Okla., and in 1940, together with his brother Peter, established the Becker Funeral Home in Lawton. He married Elizabeth Routh Kendall on June 5, 1942. She survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Janet Lambert; a son, Gary Becker; and two grandsons.
