Aged Oklahoma Couple Die in closed Room
MR. AND MRS. TOBE UNRUH FOUND DEAD OF FUMES IN HOME AT MENO
Meno, Okla. — Mr. and Mrs. Tobe B. Unruh were found dead of fumes from a heater in the closed bedroom of their home here Thursday morning, Dec. 8.
The aged couple was discovered by their son-in-law, Leonard Schmidt, who entered the home when neighbors told him the couple had not been seen for 36 hours. Although heavy fumes had filled the room, he found the fire in the stove still burning.
Mr. and Mrs. Unruh were lifelong residents of the Meno area, having recently retired and moved to town. Survivors include one daughter, Martha, and husband Leonard Schmidt of rural Meno.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 10, at the New Hopedale Mennonite church, with Rev. Ben Friesen officiating.
