MRS. MARIA HEINRICHS
Maria Heinrichs was born on November 26, 1892, the third child of Abram and Emilie Woelke, in Samara, Russia. She grew up on her father's farm and later was active in church work before her marriage. During this time she raised her foster-son Willie Krueger.
She was united in marriage to Herman Heinrichs on September 29, 1929 in Tjumen, Russia. With her husband she fled Russia over the Amur River to China. Here her first child, Lydia, was born. From China they went to Germany where two more children were born and died.
In 1948 the family emigrated to Canada. They lived in Yarrow, B.C. for one year and from there moved to North Delta, B.C. Her husband pre-deceased her in 1967. She passed away suddenly on June 27, at age 82.
Her love of Christ helped her during many difficult and trying times.
Left to mourn are her daughter Lydia, son-in-law Heinz Lange, and their three children of Merritt, B.C.; one sister; one brother; her foster-son Willie Krueger of Russia, nieces and nephews and relatives in Russia, Brazil and Germany.
The funeral was conducted from the Kennedy Heights Mennonite Brethren Church in Delta on June 30.
