Fatal Accident On Icy Indiana Highway

ELKHART YOUNG WOMAN KILLED IN TWO-CAR CRASH NEAR WAKARUSA

Goshen, Ind. — A two-car crash on icy State Road 19 near Wakarusa Feb. 6 resulted in fatal injuries to Carolyn Ann Swarm, 19, of Elkhart, who died shortly after being admitted in Elkhart General hospital.

Funeral services for the young woman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Swarm, were held Feb. 9 at the Olive Mennonite church near Wakarusa. Rev. Ralph Stahly and Rev. Simon Gingerich officiated.

Miss Swarm and her fiance, Robert L. Yoder of Route 1, Wakarusa, were en route to the home of his parents after attending a young people's meeting at Pigeon, Mich. when the fatal accident occurred. Yoder said he put on his brakes to avoid hitting a car in front, and as a result his car skidded into the path of an oncoming car driven by an Etna Green, Ind. motorist.

Yoder was admitted to the Elkhart hospital with severe injuries. Neither driver was held responsible in the accident.
