18-MONTH-OLD CHILD SUFFOCATED IN SMOKE-FILLED ROOM
Sugarcreek, Ohio. — An 18-month-old Amish boy was suffocated Sept. 20 in a farm fire near Fredericksburg.
Little Harvey Byler apparently upset a kerosene lamp while his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Atlee J. D. Byler, were in the barn doing the morning milking. They saw smoke pouring from the house and quickly came to the rescue of the unconscious boy. However, efforts to revive him proved futile and he was dead on arrival at the Millersburg hospital.
