Kitchener, Ont. — A tragic accident happened at Milverton, Ontario, when Mrs. Jacob Schmidt, 84-year-old grandmother, was accidentally shot and killed by her grandson, Ezra Streicher. | |||
The youth had been shooting sparrows in the barn and returned to the summer kitchen to clean the rifle. He presumed it to be empty and pulled the trigger “just to make sure.” At the same time his grandmother entered the room and was shot in the chest. | |||
Mrs. Schmidt was the former Magdalena Gerber, whose husband died in1950. She was a member of the Amish Mennonite Church. The funeral was held on Friday, Sept. 19, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Streicher with Bishop Solomon Kuepfer officiating. | |||

84-YEAR-OLD GRANDMOTHER ACCIDENTALLY SHOT BY GRANDSON IN ONTARIO
Kitchener, Ont. — A tragic accident happened at Milverton, Ontario, when Mrs. Jacob Schmidt, 84-year-old grandmother, was accidentally shot and killed by her grandson, Ezra Streicher.
