text of obituary:

MRS. KATHARINA J. THIELMANN

Katharina Thielmann, nee Huebert was born on March 23, 1879 in Blumstein, South Russia. There she spent her childhood years. At the age of 11 she lost her beloved mother. However, she soon had a new mother, when her father, John N. Huebert was married to Katherine Klassen in 189l.

She accepted Christ at 15 years, and was baptized in 1894 upon confession of her faith by Rev. Jacob W. Reimer of Rueckenau where she joined the Mennonite Brethren Church.

May 4, 1902 she married Gerhard J. Thielmann, a school teacher in Rosenort. The family immigrated to Canada in 1924 (Hans, the oldest son, stayed in Russia). The parents and daughter Elly lived in Hepburn, Sask. until 1935 when they left for Vineland, Ont. They established a permanent home on a fruit farm in Virgil in 1937.

Mr. Thielmann passed away on January 15, 1949. Mrs. Thielmann continued to live in her small house, enjoying her relative independence. She remained a very active person, both mentally and physically, writing letters and working in her garden.

She passed away on January 2 in Tabor Manor, at the age of 94 years. Predeceased by three children, Hans, Jacob and Kaetie who died in Russia, she leaves to mourn a son, G. Gerhard of Seattle, Wash., a daughter, Elly of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., six grandchildren, a son-in-law, and a daughter-in-law.

The funeral services were conducted in the Virgil (Ont.) Mennonite Brethren Church on January 5 with Rev. John G. Baerg officiating.
