HEINRICH PHILLIPPSEN

Heinrich Phillippsen was born in Tokultschak, Crimea, Russia, July 21, 1892. After World War I he went to Siberia where he and Anna Friesen were married in 1922. They emigrated to Canada in 1930, settling briefly in Saskatchewan and then at Elie, Manitoba. In 1943 they came to Black Creek, B.C.

He served the Black Creek Mennonite Brethren Church for several years as choir director and for many years as treasurer. On March 5 he passed away to be with the Lord. He was predeceased by his wife Anna in 1971, his son Henry in 1947 and two sons who died in infancy.

He is survived by his sons: Alvin of Black Creek and Walter of West Vancouver; his daughter Erika Pleasance of Victoria; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral and graveside services were conducted by Rev. John E. Klassen. Interment was at the Black Creek Cemetery.
