Louisville, Ga. — Funeral services were held May 26 in the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite settlement for Merle Peters, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Peters who lost his life by drowning in the Atlantic Ocean. | |||
The tragedy occurred during a family outing at Savannah Beach. The parents and grandmother were watching a group swimming in the ocean when they saw Merle pulled out to sea by the undertow. One of the swimmers returned to shore for a boat, but the youth could not be found. The body was recovered several days later about a half mile away. | |||
The settlement at Louisville was established within recent years by members of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite from several states. | |||

Louisville, Ga. — Funeral services were held May 26 in the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite settlement for Merle Peters, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Peters who lost his life by drowning in the Atlantic Ocean.
