— Mrs. Mary Schmidt, 86, one of the pioneer settlers of the Gnadenberg community east of Newton, died Sunday morning at the Bethel Deaconess hospital, having suffered a fractured hip three weeks ago. Funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at the Draper Funeral chapel and the Gnadenberg church, Rev. H. E. Miller in charge. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Ruth of Route 3, with whom she had been making her home, and Mrs. Roy Dreier of Hesston; a sister, Mrs. J. H. Harms of Wichita; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
