ISAAC UNRAU

Isaac Unrau was born in Ruderweide South Russia, in 1900 to Peter and Anna Uurau. He attended school in his home village. In 1922 he married Katharine Boshman, and due to dangerous living conditions, they fled to Canada in 1924. Before settling in the Leamington area, the family lived in Waterloo County for 2 years.

In 1949 Isaac was baptized and joined the MB Church. He became an active member and served as Sunday School teacher church secretary and in the Dial-a-Meditation telephone ministry.

Brother and sister Unrau celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the fall of 1972. On June 5, 1973, he was suddenly called home to his reward. He is survived by his loving wife , Katharine; 1 son Walter; 2 daughters, Mrs. Lynn Lypps and Mrs. Ed Reimer; their respective families, 1 brother and 1 sister, both in Russia.

Just before his death, Isaac completed the life history of one side of his family. The last part of the memoirs reads, "Somehow, while writing this book a certain longing came over me for the ones that have left us from this life; but with a joyful heart we can look forward to that day when we are all going to be united with our loved ones through Christ the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Our prayer for all of you is, that none of us be missing on that great Day May the Grace of God abide with you and us."
