JOHN J. GIESBRECHT

John J. Giesbrecht was born in 1893 to John G. and Elizabeth Giesbrecht of Southeast Russia. In 1913 the family immigrated to Canada and settled in Aberdeen, Sask. Six years later John married Margaret Dyck, and they farmed in the Kronsgart district. Their marriage was blessed with 6 children, one of which died in infancy.

At the age of 25, John accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour. He was baptized that same year and joined the MB Church of Kronsgart. After farming for 33 years, John and Margaret retired to Morden, Man., where they lived until 1962 when Margaret died. The following year John married Anna Heier.

Since 1965 John suffered from a series of strokes and on June 1, 1973, he went to be with the Lord. Left to mourn his death are his beloved wife, Anna, 4 sons, 1 daughter, their respective families, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister, his wife Margaret, 1 son and 1 grandson. Funeral services were held on June 5 in the Morden MB Church with Rev. Victor Neufeld and Rev. Frank Friesen officiating.
