LYDIA SOMMERFELD

Mrs . Lydia Sommerfeld was born July 22, 1902, in Volhynian, Russia. In 1922 she was married to Edward Sommerfeld. The Lord blessed their union with two sons and four daughters.

In 1927 they immigrated to Canada settling in the Waseca district in 'Saskatohewan where they actively partlclpatedin farming and community affairs. Their ma in interest was the establishment and development of the ·church. Shortly after coming to Canada she followed the Lord in baptism becoming the first chartered member of the Lashburn Church, Sask., even as Lydia of Apostle Paul's day was the first baptized believer at Philippi. Mrs. Sommerfeld loved to entertain in her home and minister to the needs of guests.

She departed this life on August 4 at the age of 69.

She leaves to mourn her husband, Edward; six children: Berthold and Gerald of Waseca, Sask., Sophie and Meta of Lashburn, Sask., Melita of Saskatoon and Edith of Calgary; 20 grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
