CORNELIUS PAULS
Cornelius Pauls was born on October 9, 1919, in Burwalde, South Russia, to Aaron and Maria Pauls. At the age of seven he immigrated to Canada with his parents, and a younger brother and sister. They resided in Manitoba until 1937. The family then moved to Ontario and made their permanent home there.
Cornelius had several experiences with the Lord, but it was not until 1948 that he really committed his life to Christ, was baptized, and became a member of the Port Rowan Church. He had many battles in his Christian life, but he always found his way through to the source of strength, his Lord and Saviour.
On October 10, 1942, he was united in holy matrimony to Anne Hiebert of Port Rowan, Ont. The Lord blessed them with three daughters and one son.
Cornelius became ill in January, 1969. The winter of 1970-71 provided him with a good rest period and he looked forward to spring when he could begin farm work again. The Lord gave him the necessary strength to do the work himself. But after corn seeding in May he suffered a severe heart attack. During the last few days of his life in the hospital he was cheerful, happy, and enjoyed his visitors. He passed away on June 21 at the age of 51.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne; three daughters, Mrs. Peter (Betty) Reimer of Port Rowan, Sharon of Tanzania, East Africa and Bonnie, at home; one son, Waldo, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Pauls of Port Rowan; one brother; seven sisters; and four grandchildren.
