FOUR-YEAR-OLD BOY WANDERS ONTO ROAD, STRUCK BY CAR
Plain City, Ohio. — Wandering onto the road near his home early in the moring [sic], four-year-old Ernest Slabaugh was struck by a car and suffered a critical head injury. The parents, Omar T. and Marie Slabaugh, were busy with farm duties and thought the child asleep in bed until he was carried in by the car driver.
It was reported the car was travelling toward the sun, and the driver was somewhat blinded by the sun’s rays. He attempted to avoid the accident, but the car swung around, the rear end hitting the boy and knocking him down.
He was taken to the Children’s hospital in Columbus, where the same surgeon who had performed brain surgery on the little boy several years ago again operate in an attempt to save his life.
